Let's copy Beanie Babies!

In a nod to Ty and their ridiculously popular Beanie Babies, Hasbro will be introducing some limited edition Furbies. Let's see, we've got a graduate Furby (Because we all know that the one thing a young adult on their way to college or out into the real world needs... IS A FURBY!!!), we've got 'Patriotic Furby' (Also known as 'Quite possibly the scariest thing ever Furby'), and 'Spring Furby.' Nifty, eh? Oh yeah, and on their way:
  • Autumn Furby - Changing fall colors will be a perfect match for this Furby! (Available - Sept-Oct. '99)
  • Holiday Furby - This special Furby has a seasonal costume ready to bring Holiday cheer! (Available - Oct-Nov '99)
The Third Coming...
They come by ship. They come in cute purple and green cardboard boxes. They have big eyes and round beaks, and they don't like being held upside down. They come in great numbers. They are Furby: The Third Generation. And oh yeah, they're ugly.
[5 Ugly little Furbies]
  1. I guess the first one has wool-like fur... Almost a shame to take a scalpel to such a luxurious coat! But it must be done, for the religion of science!
  2. I heard this one described as 'Gorilla Furby,' but if we're in Imagination-Land already, I'm sure we can come up with something better! Any comments?
  3. Alright, he's green. Wow. [Flatly, with biting sarcasm and with a knowing smirk] Now I need to buy this.
  4. Ooh, ooh, blue! OK, this one must be sacrificed! I'm on the prowl!
  5. This one is ugly, but not as ugly as Buck, so I'll give him some credit.
  6. And the final third generation Furby is still a secret. I'm hoping it's an iMac Furby stripped of all fur and just sitting there as a transparent plastic shell. Ooh ooh!
Japanese Invasion!
In the "Wow, we actually had a piece of entertainment technology released in the US before Japan got it" department, the Japanese release of the Furby (By Tomy Electronics) went down on June 2, 1999. Naturally, all 200,000 of them were snatched up in a few hours. Everybody loves 'em... Do they all plan to do to them what we plan to do? If anyone has sound clips (Preferably of the Furby being held upside down and shaken, but not necessarily), I'd love to hear them!
